What will your daily life look like?

We seek a talented and enthusiastic technician for a fixed term contract (until the end of 2021) in our R&D In vitro Platform, which has expertize within gut health and evaluates new concepts and probiotic products for Human and Animal Health& Nutrition.

The R&D In vitro Platform uses state-of-the-art in vitro gut simulators (TIM1 and SHIME) and mammalian cell line models, and performs in vitro analysis of (next generation) pre-, pro-, post- and synbiotics using different techniques such as FACS, TEER, ELISA and qPCR- based gene expression.

MISSIONS:

As a Technician, your primary function is the execution of methods and assisting the team with the excellent day-to-day management of the labs.  

You will:

–          provide technical assistance in performing experiments with in vitro models simulating the gastrointestinal tract of various hosts (e.g. human, monogastric animals)

–          perform in vitro survival studies of bacteria, yeasts/fungi and phages under gut conditions

–          culture probiotics (e.g. spore formers, lactic acid bacteria, yeasts/fungi) and strict anaerobes

–          assess the gene expression of both host and microbial genes

–          prepare samples for analyses by internal and external partner laboratories 

–          organize and keep track of experimental data, sample inventories, and supplies 

–          responsibilities with the daily run of the laboratory

Requirements:

–          higher education in Microbiology/ Biotechnology with a minimum 3 years lab experience in the industry  

–          hands-on experience in a variety of general microbiology, gut microbiology, biochemistry and molecular techniques/technologies.

–          knowledge of routine laboratory practices and safety regulations (e.g., BLS 2 biosafety, etc.) 

Language skills: Fluent in French and has already the ability to efficiently communicate in English on a daily basis (oral, written, document interpretation and presentation).
